"Beholder" is an original 3-part oil painting that depicts a boa constrictor with the chimera (has also been called mosaicism) skin mutation.
Painted on elm wood that was hand-cut and sanded to shape, each piece is equipped with proper mounting materials. The preferred display is slightly staggered with three to five inches of negative space between each piece.
The chimera (or mosaic) morph is when a snake contains the scaleless gene, while still retaining some of its natural scaled skin. Half-scaleless snakes can appear in many different species (Ball pythons, corn snakes, etc.) and patterns, some being evenly split down their lateral line, while others may have patches scattered throughout, or simply oddly spaced scales. The boa constrictor displayed depicts the latter most case.
