This custom handmade sculpture is of Lanthanotus borneensis, commonly referred to as the Borneo Earless Monitor. One of the most elusive species of monitor lizard on the planet and the last of its genus.
It was crafted in polymer clay, a material that hardens when baked in the oven, and then painted in bronze and gold. The bronze is dry brushed with emerald green to give it a rusting look. The base is a black walnut wooden slab.
